Screen Charles Libin’s Reel

Charles Libin's American Combatant was a 2007 Official Selection of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and went on to play festivals in Cairo, Santiago, Munich, Sao Paulo, and Belfort. Libin has worked as a director of photography for commercials and other projects over the years. Most recently Libin DPd Paul Krik's neo-noir thriller Able Danger, starring Elina Löwensohn. Documentaries shot by Libin include Julie Drazen's Rise: Rave Outlaw Disco Donnie, an exploration of the New Orleans rave scene, and Matthew Barney: No Restraint, directed by Alison Chernick. Libin DPd the Zhang Yuan directed campaign for United Colors of Benetton. Libin DPd Bob Dylan's tribute performance of Johnny Cash's Train of Love. He is co-inventor/designer of the RUBY 7, a film lighting fixture.

Libin has served as 2nd Unit DP on films including Ross Katz's Taking Chance, Harold Ramis' The Year One, Rebecca Miller's Private Lives of Pippa Lee, and Nigel Cole's Five Dollars a Day. He was additional director of photography on Alexandre Rockwell's In the Soup. Camera operator credits include Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married, Neil Young Trunk Show and Neil Young: Heart of Gold, Michel Gondry's Be Kind Rewind, Julian Schnabel's Lou Reed's Berlin, Helen Hunt's Then She Found Me, Lee Daniels' Push, Steve Buscemi's Trees Lounge, and HBO's In Treatment.
